About John Diak
John Diak is a long-time Parker resident who enjoys being involved in the community - from participating in the 1988 “Stay Alive on Highway 83” campaign as a high school senior to the Smokin’ Brew BBQ & Brewfest put on by his Rotary Club to raise funds for charitable causes. Simply put: He’s a Parker guy who is running for Town Council to continue giving back to the community that he loves.
He also has a personal interest. He and his wife of 25 years, Noelle, are raising their three children – Justin, Tyler and Mikaya – in this wonderful community he has called home since 1983. John and his family currently reside in the Bradbury Hills subdivision.
John was 13 years old when his family moved to the Parker area. He attended Parker Junior High School (now Sierra Middle School) and Ponderosa High School, where he participated in the “Stay Alive on Highway 83” campaign. Designed to bring awareness to the dangerous conditions on Parker Road to the Colorado Legislature, the campaign was a success, resulting in the widening of Parker Road from two to four lanes with substantial shoulder improvements.
John attended Colorado State University, where he earned a dual degree in Finance and Human Development and Family Studies. Upon graduation, he came home to Parker and began working for Western States Surveying, a locally-owned and operated land surveying company.
Working as the Controller, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance for Western States from 1993 to 2006, John was intimately involved in many of Colorado’s large-scale infrastructure projects, including Denver International Airport, E-470 and the I-25 expansion known as T-REX. His firm gave back by participating in local projects such as Praying Hands Ranch, Parker Senior Center, Double Angel Field and the Miller Safety Center.
John changed careers in 2006 and joined Oatley & Diak, LLC, a locally owned Registered Investment Advisor that focuses on providing financial advisory services to families, trusts and businesses as a fiduciary. He continues to serve the community through the Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club of Parker and various other non-profit agencies that he volunteers with in order to benefit others.
With his financial background and dedication to the Parker community, John has the expertise to understand Parker’s financial picture and to provide the leadership to lead the town into the future. He believes his education, experience and previous service on the Town Council will be useful as the town strives to stay on the right path in the areas of economic development, transportation, recreation and the arts, and taking care of our aging population.
