Parker has a vibrant local business environment. In order for Parker to continue to develop as a full service community, the Town needs to ensure a good economic environment is in place by providing assistance to businesses in transition. Transportation

Since its origin, Parker has worked to maintain and increase transportation infrastructure. Parker enjoys easy access to the Denver International Airport via E-470 Toll Way and multiple corridors that provide convenient access to the Denver metro area via I-25. Maintaining and increasing access points so our retail, commercial and industrial businesses can continue to expand will need to be a priority.

Monitoring existing services and working with RTD to ensure the needs of our growing and aging population continue to be met will be a key in providing world-class transportation.

Recreation & Arts

Parker is consistently voted one of the best places to live in the United States. Parker provides a quality of life that all communities desire but few communities can provide. Our parks provide an abundance of opportunity for our citizens to learn, develop and enjoy many sporting events. Our trail system endeavors to provide a safe environment for all to participate in walking, running and biking activities. We have added the PACE Center to provide a local venue that can be utilized to increase cultural and artistic offerings within the Town. Parker needs to be vigilant toward providing ample recreation activities that are available to all and develop an arts and cultural program that will best utilize our newest asset, the PACE Center.

Accomplishments

  • Partnered to relocate the Library & build Discovery Center Park
  • Partnering to bring recreation to Rueter Hess Reservoir
  • Expanded Parker Recreation Center
  • Expanded programming & increased attendance at Pace Center
  • Expanding Salisbury Park

Aging Population

Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) indicates that by 2035 more than 1 in 4 people in the Denver area will be 60 years old or older. In the next five years alone the region will experience a 30% increase in persons over the age of 60 living in the region due to the aging of baby boomers living in the metro area. With increased life expectancies, there will be a continual demand for housing, transportation and services that cater to the aging population. Parker needs to be proactive and seek out solutions for this emerging demographic so that the aging population can meet their needs within the Town.

  • Increased active adult recreational programming
  • Continued support to Parker Senior Center
